Day 2: The road goes ever up and up or How to Walk Like a Drunk

Today we tried to get an early start since we had a difficult day ahead of us. During breakfast I felt good, but as soon as I started walking I got really tired. The road went up forever, it was misty and it felt like I was never going to get to Roncesvalles. At times it was so steep I had to zig-zag my way up, and the others told me I looked like a drunk. After 5.5 hours I was finally at the top and could start the descent. That was also difficult, but not in the same way. After another hour I arrived at Roncesvalles. Some of the others had already arrived and some came later. I went on a very interesting tour of the over one thousand year old monastery and then I went to pilgrims' mass. I was asked to read the bible in English, which was a bit nervous, but it went well. After a nice supper I am now waiting for lights out, so that I can get some sleep.
