Day -1
I've been in London for a few days, first my husband was with me and when he went home yesterday I had an easy day at the National Gallery, Tate Britain and Westminster Abbey. Hard on the feet, though!
When I woke up today the rain was pouring down, luckily it stopped before I went for breakfast (in another building). I called my husband and packed up the last of my things. The pack is heavy! Fortunately it will get lighter before I have to wear the full pack again, I have decided to bus from and to my daily destinations for a couple of days, to get an easy start and have extra food for those days right now.
I arrived early at the station and had plenty of time to get a snack before the platform announcement 20 mins before departure. I wanted to be early on the train to make sure I could find a good place for the backpack. There was just one space big enough, so I quickly put my pack there. I turned on my phone to check my ticket before the train left and the battery was at 17%! I started charging and it said 93%? Turns out I was looking at a screen shot of the ticket 😂
Shortly after leaving London the sun came out and it turned into a beautiful day. There's a lot of water, but not as much as two years ago. I hope! The trip to Penzance was soon over. I'm staying at the Longboat Inn, an old pub, for a couple of nights and taking the bus to my starting point everyday. That way I wont have to carry my too heavy backpack just yet!
That's a good plan - did exactly that (stayed in penzance and used the buses) when walking that section of the South West Coast Path. Good luck with the walk
