Day 14 Witheridge to Tarr Steps

Day 14 Witheridge to Tarr Steps
Kilometers: 26

What a lovely day, perfect for walking! Slightly chilly in the morning with clouds on and off. As I came near to where I would pick up the Two Moors Way (Dartmoor to Exmoor) I met a farmer who said that the fields were very muddy after the rain, especially where there was cattle. So I kept to the roads again. I still had a nice and interesting day.

   Exmoor in the distance!

My body feels so good I actually thought of it as a machine, albeit a slow one 😂

There were a lot of hills, some quite steep

This isn't what you want at the end of the day!

Going down the final steep hill. It's hard to see how steep it actually is, I walked down it very slowly and carefully. 33%.

Finally at Tarr Steps and Tarr Farm Inn, my home for tonight. Tarr Steps is the longest clapper bridge in Britain, across the River Barle. It's often said to be 3,000+ years old (Bronze Age) but many experts think the current structure may date to the Medieval period.

And a wonderful dinner tonight! It usually comes with Crab crushed potatoes, but there's onions in them and I need to be careful 😟
