Day 10 Launceston to Lydford
Kilometers: 24-ish
I got going as soon as I could this morning, it was going to rain this afternoon. The day started out fine though and I made good time since I'd been encouraged not to walk the Two Castles Trail that I had planned, it was too wet and muddy.
The main road wasn't much fun, there was too much traffic, things got a lot better once I turned down a smaller road. Or should I day up, it was mainly up almost all the way to my destination, the Fox and Hounds in Lydford. I've stayed there once before and my room was very cold that time, so I was a bit apprehensive. Guess what? The room was COLD! I think I was in the same room as last time 😂 I had to get my down quilt out to get warm. At least I got more help this time, there's now an extra radiator in the room and I'm sitting in the pub drinking hot chocolate, waiting for the room to get warm
Blister's fine, knee and foot/toe are ok while I walk but hurt at night. My OLP means that I shouldn't take any Ibuprofen/NSAID, but that's the only thing that helps right now, so I take one to get some sleep, but nothing during the day.
Speaking of OLP, I'm trying a new medication during this walk. My ordinary medicine, Klobetasol, has to be refrigerated which obviously doesn't work when I'm hiking. I now take one Prednisolone dissolved in a little water and swish and spit out (no swallowing, it's bad to swallow. Can't remember why right now!). It seems to work fairly ok and would be fine if it wasn't for the awful taste! Also, you're not supposed to eat or drink anything afterwards for a couple of hours at least and I get very thirsty afterwards 😱
