Kilometers: 15 (planned 17)
I can remember waking up on and off during the night, wondering if I was breathing in mold all night, but in the morning I couldn't feel the smell. Maybe it wasn't so bad after all. After a quick breakfast I was on my way. I took the bus a couple of kilometers so as not to put too much strain on the back.
Then I met Dianah! We had an amazing walk, talking about everything. Time flew by and all of a sudden we were in Bath and had to go our separate ways. Thank you for brightening my day, Dianah!
Look, I have my own street sign!
After leaving the backpack at my hotel I found my restaurant, the Thai Balcony. They made a very mild Khao Pad and it was so good!
I continued to Bath Abbey, where I spent a long time. There's a small, but interesting, museum where I spent a long time. Among other things I learned that the first translation of the gospels to English was performed by monks at Bath Abbey around 1000-1050. Unfortunately there was no facsimile I could buy, I would gladly (?) have carried it 😂
I was hesitant to pay for the Roman Baths. I've seen them before and my recollection was that there wasn't much to see, but I was assured that the museum is much larger today. It is! The excavations were extensive, with models showing how large the baths once were. Today the Abbey is heated with water from the hot springs.
Unpacking tonight my sleep clothes smell really bad, like an old damp basement 😱 I'm not wearing them tonight, I'll wear anything but!
That's another segment done, Belstone to Bath. The days are now going by so fast that I can't keep track anymore! It feels like I just left Belstone?
