This place is wonderful! All night I could hear the river murmuring and blackbirds singing. No cars, nothing to disturb me (apart from the person who knocked at my door and woke me up at 22.50 pm). I still had a good night's sleep, though I do remember being in pain at times.
After a nice breakfast I went back to my room to pack up. While I was packing my back got increasingly more difficult. I could hardly put my boots and pack on. I went downstairs to check out and when they saw how much pain I was in they said that I could stay in the room and they'd find someone to take me to Monksilver in the afternoon! That is so nice, at the same time I am sad that I don't get to walk the Coleridge Way.
I had to wait until Natalie got off work at 3 pm, then a fairly long car ride to Monksilver and the Notley Arms Inn. I had dinner at the pub, the first time I had lamb since I was 15. It was very good!
After supper I went for a short walk to see the church. It's origins are from the 12th-century and it is mostly famous for Sir Francis Drake's (explorer and privateer) second wedding taking place there.
