Kilometers: 17
This morning I met a young woman. She told me that she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. "I'm only 23”, she said. The doctors had tried to remove it with surgery, which didn't work and she was now going to get chemo therapy. ”I'm only 23”, she said once more just before we parted.
All of a sudden this walk took on a whole new meaning. I could say that my walk is in memory of friends and family that have been lost to cancer, but the reason for my walk is this young woman and everyone else who is still with us. I hope there will be a cure for all cancers soon.
The day was mostly cloudy, but no rain.
The back is still ok-ish. I'm trying to keep my days shorter than 20km for now. I can't do much about the hills, though, and I am now in the Peak District. There will be hills.
